While our sons and their friends had fun boogie boarding (I shared photos of them in my previous post), my hubby and I walked around. Here are some photos of the quaint area around the shops at Avila Beach, located along the Avila Beach Promenade.
I just love the name of this bookstore!
Here's a view of the paved walkway leading to more shops.
Here's another view of the same walkway. Oh, look at that super cute gate on the right!
Of course, I had to get a photo of that gate. Don't you just love the goose perched on top?
We decided to follow the paved walkway to see where it would take us.
Down the stairs we went. We then continued along the walkway and ended up on 1st Street. We walked along this street and turned right on San Miguel. Walking along San Miguel took us right back to Front Street, which faces Avila Beach. It's really quite a short walk around the block.
A view of Avila Beach along Front Street.
More to come from our visit to Avila Beach in an upcoming post, including our visit to the Avila Beach Pier.

Our Visit to Avila Beach, California ~ Part 2
As I mentioned in my previous post about our visit to Avila Beach, the fog lifted while we were enjoying our lunch at the Hula Hut. Next up on our to-do list was finding a spot on the beach. Our sons were meeting friends there. We found them and set up next to their spot.
Our spot on the beach was on the right side of the Avila Beach Pier. And this was our view. Pretty awesome right?
After a while, our sons and their friends got ready to go boogie boarding. Hubby and I didn't join them. Instead I took more photos and my husband and I walked around enjoying the beautiful ocean views.
Oh, and while our kids were boogie boarding, hubby and I went back to Hula Hut for that delicious locally made ice cream. Don't worry, we went back again later so our sons could have some too.
Boogie Boarding fun! Time to catch a wave!
Our sons decided to try the waves on the left side of the pier.
Eventually, their friends joined them.
As you can see, it was an absolutely gorgeous day at Avila Beach. And our sons had a fun time boogie boarding with their friends.
More about our visit to Avila Beach in an upcoming post, including some of the photos I took while my husband and I explored the area around the Avila Beach Promenade.

Daydream Coneflower
One of the flowers we saw during our visit to the Central Utah Gardens in July of 2013 was this lovely Daydream Coneflower.
Here's a photo of the Coneflower plant with the name tag at the bottom. See the flower near the top right side of the photo, right in front of a blue name tag? That's the flower I photographed for the photo above.

A Rustic Driftwood Bench
While strolling along the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Bluff Trail in Cambria, California, we came upon this driftwood bench.
It may not look like it, but this bench is rather large. To give you some perspective on the size of this driftwood bench, here's a photo my husband took of two of our sons and myself in 2011 sitting on this same bench.
Notice how all of our feet are dangling in the air?
The Fiscalini Ranch Bluff Trail treats those who walk along the trail with million-dollar views of the Pacific Ocean. It really is gorgeous there.

Our Visit to Avila Beach, California ~ Part 1
On August 26, 2013 my husband, two of our sons, and I took a little day trip to Avila Beach. I'd never really been there before. My husband and I drove down here one time but never did stop.
When we arrived, we decided to have lunch before heading to the beach. I had read about the Hula Hut before we came so we had lunch there.
I ordered the chicken breast sandwich with potato salad on the side. It had melted provolone cheese on it and was quite yummy.
The Hula Hut is a charming place with friendly employees. Not only do they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they also serve delicious locally made ice cream.
I asked where the ice cream was made and our charming server told me it was made in Arroyo Grande. And yes, we did indulge in some of that scrumptious ice cream later in the day.
Hula Hut also has a fudge counter called the Fudge Factory. You can see it in the photo above just inside the doorway.
They also sells t-shirts and lots of other non-food items too. Hula Hut is basically a deli, ice cream counter, fudge counter, and gift shop all in one.
When we first arrived at Avila Beach it was somewhat foggy.
But while we ate lunch, the fog lifted and it became a beautiful sunny day!
More about our visit to Avila Beach in future posts, including photos from when my husband and I visited the landing under the Avila Beach Pier. Yes, I said under.

Bridal Veil Falls in Utah
Last year our family spent some time vacationing in Utah. While we were there, we visited Bridal Veil Falls. What a beautiful place! Bridal Veil Falls is located in Provo Canyon, only about 10 miles away from Center Street in Provo.
Bridal Veil Falls is 607 feet tall and is a double cataract waterfall. This photo (below) will hopefully give you a sense of the size of this amazing waterfall. See the three people standing near the bottom of the waterfall? Those are three of our adult children.
Below are two more views of this beautiful waterfall.

Daisies Along A Fence
In a previous post I shared some photos from our visit to Central Utah Gardens, which is located in Orem, Utah. In that post I shared photos of some large colorful Alliums in colors I'd never seen before. It turned out they had been spray painted. They were still quite interesting though.
I mentioned in that previous post that I would be sharing more photos from our visit in the future. So, as promised, here is another photo from our visit. I took so many pictures while my husband and I strolled through the lovely Central Utah Gardens. And yes, I will be sharing more photos from these lovely gardens in future posts.
