A Purple-Blue Hydrangea

Purple Hydrangea

I love the color of this hydrangea! I can't decide if it's purple or blue. What do you think?

This lovely flower was found at the gardens of Mission San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California. My husband and I visited this mission in June while we were vacationing along the Central Coast of California.

Fresno California Temple

Fresno California Temple

In the fall of 2008 I took a photography class at a local community college. One of the projects we were assigned was called "My Corner of the World." The instructor wanted us to turn in four photos representing different "corners" of our world.

I took these two photos of the LDS Fresno California Temple as part of this project. I turned in the photo below representing my "Corner of Faith" (my religious beliefs).

Mossy Cave Trail – Bryce Canyon National Park ~ Part 1

In June of this year, we spent a couple of days enjoying beautiful Bryce Canyon National Park.

While we were at dinner on one of those days, we found out about Mossy Cave Trail. It sounded interesting, so we decided to go there. After visiting Bryce Canyon, we went a few miles east on Highway 12 and arrived at
Mossy Cave Trail. As you can see from the map below (thank you Google Maps), there's a small parking lot at the trailhead.

Googlemap for Mossy Cave Trail

The sign at the trailhead told us the distance to Mossy Cave.

As we walked along the trail we saw some stunning rock formations similar to what we saw at Bryce Canyon.

There was a creek along the trail which led to a waterfall.

Here's part of our group walking along the trail.

And here's another view of the creek along the trail.

More from our visit to Mossy Cave Trail in future posts.

Beginning to Bloom

Agapanthus

I hope you enjoy this close-up view of an Agapanthus, or Lily of the Nile, as it begins to bloom. Notice the blossom with one of its petals beginning to open?

These lovely trumpet-shaped blossoms form a globe-like flower that sits on top of a long stem.

I took this photo in June of this year. We have several of these plants in our yard.

Zarahemla Daylilies

Zarahemla Daylilies

When it turned cloudy on a particular day in May of this year, I grabbed my camera and went outside to take photos of some Daylilies in our yard. These pretty blossoms are from one of our Zarahemla Daylily plants.

Camp Chawanakee Cove ~ Shaver Lake

I refer to this beautiful spot as Camp Chawanakee Cove. It's one of the many coves at Shaver Lake, which is located in the Sierra National Forest in California.

Family Camp at Shaver Lake 2011

Why do I refer to this lovely spot as Camp Chawanakee Cove? Because Camp Chawanakee's Family Camp is located here. Camp Chawanakee, which is run by the Boy Scouts of America, has two separate campgrounds. One is for Boy Scout activities, and the other campground, called Family Camp, is for the general public.

This map, which was created by Southern California Edison, shows the many coves at Shaver Lake. Unfortunately, I don't see a formal name for this beautiful cove on the map below. I've circled it in blue. If you'd like to see this map online, click HERE.

For many years, Camp Chawanakee's Family Camp has been the location of our annual family reunion. We have fun swimming, canoeing, kayaking, gathering around the campfire in the evenings, and just enjoying each other's company.

An Alluring Path

Path in Yosemite National Park
There's just something inviting about a curved path. What's around the corner? It begs you to stroll along and find out.

This photo was taken at Yosemite National Park in August of 2011.
