Temple Square: Winter 2014 ~ Part 2

Last week I shared photos from our visit to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today I'd like to share more photos with you.

As I mentioned in last week's post, it was absolutely freezing the evening we visited Temple Square. So it was a welcome relief to go inside the Assembly Hall to get warmed up a bit.

But, we didn't stay for very long. We soon ventured back outside into the frigid temperatures.

Of course, I took more pictures of the gorgeous Salt Lake Temple once we were back outside.

I was still taking photos with our DSLR camera at this point before it quit working due to the freezing temperatures.

This view is looking toward City Creek Center, which is across the street.

This was the last photo I took before our DSLR camera quit working.

Thankfully our regular digital camera kept on working despite the cold temperatures. I'll share more photos of our visit to Temple Square in a future post.

Thanks for stopping by!

Temple Square: Winter 2014 ~ Part 1

In a previous post I shared two photos from our visit to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. We visited on December 30, 2014 before the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations were removed.

It was beautiful there, but very cold! In fact, as I mentioned in my previous post, it was so cold that our DSLR camera quit working. It appears that the batteries couldn't handle the frigid temperatures. Our son told us that the "feels like" temperature was 5 degrees. Brrr!

I thought I'd share more pictures from our visit that night. I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked, but it was just too cold to stay outside.

It had snowed the previous Sunday and Monday and the temperatures didn't go above freezing the week we were in Utah, so there was snow on the grounds of Temple Square.

We had parked in the City Creek Center underground parking garage, so we walked through part of City Creek Center to get to Temple Square. I took this picture while we were walking through City Creek Center. The Salt Lake Temple is visible across the street in the photo below.

We crossed the street and were greeted by the stunning beauty of Temple Square. The gorgeous Salt Lake Temple is behind the trees in this photo.

This is the Assembly Hall which was built between 1877 and 1882. The Seagull Monument is in front of it in the photo below.

This is the Handcart Pioneer Monument which is near the Assembly Hall.

I took these photos with our DSLR camera before it stopped working. I'll share more photos from our visit to Temple Square in a future post.

Thanks for stopping by!

City Creek Center ~ Part 2

Last week I shared some pictures from our visit to City Creek Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today I'd like to share more photos of City Creek Center with you.

We visited the week after Christmas, so there were still Christmas decorations up. These beautiful and festive garlands were hung on the pedestrian skybridge that crosses South Main Street.

The skybridge across South Main Street connects the two parts of City Creek Center. This map from Google Maps shows City Creek Center on both sides of South Main Street.

I took this photo from inside the pedestrian skybridge. You can see parts of the Salt Lake Temple (left) and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building (right) in the distance on either side of the lit up Christmas tree.

Here we are on the western part of City Creek Center, west of South Main Street. If you look back at the map in this post you can see where this is. This beautiful fountain is in front of Nordstrom.

This photo wasn't taken from the pedestrian skybridge that crosses South Main Street. It was taken from a second story walkway near Nordstrom. The beautiful Salt Lake Temple is lit up in the distance.

We sure had a fun time in Utah! I'll share more photos from our trip in a future post.

Thanks for stopping by!

City Creek Center ~ Part 1

In my previous post about our trip to Utah, I shared photos of some icicles I saw while we were there. And as I mentioned, it was freezing the week we spent in Utah. On one of the days of our vacation, we went to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. I shared photos of our visit there in a previous post.

After we finished looking at the Christmas lights at Temple Square, we walked across the street to City Creek Center to have dinner at Kneaders Bakery & Café. Yes. It was delicious!

Of course, I had to take more pictures while we were at City Creek Center. I took this photo while looking across the street at Temple Square. The Joseph Smith Memorial Building is on the left in the picture.

The entrance to City Creek Center is on the left in the photo below. See all of those rocks to the right and behind the lighted City Creek Center sign? That's a pond with a waterfall.

Here's a close-up of the pond and waterfall. Check out the ice in the middle of the waterfall. Our son said the evening we were there had a "feels like" temperature of 5 degrees. Brrr!

Here's part of the creek that runs through the shopping center.

Here's another photo of the creek in the shopping center. City Creek Center sure is pretty.

I'll share more photos of City Creek Center in a future post.

Thanks for reading!
